Terms & Disclaimer

Last updated: September 2026

OpenVFR is built by pilots, for pilots, to make VFR planning and situational awareness easier. It's provided free of charge as an open-source project. By using it, you agree to the terms below.

A tool for planning and awareness, not for navigation

OpenVFR is designed as a planning and situational-awareness aid — it helps you see airspace, terrain, and weather at a glance before and during a flight. It is not certified by any civil aviation authority and is not a substitute for official, approved navigation equipment or published charts.

Always cross-check

Aeronautical data changes constantly, and OpenVFR draws on open, community and public data sources that update on their own schedules. Airspace boundaries, NOTAMs, weather, and terrain shown in the app may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong by the time you fly. Treat everything in the app as a reference, and always verify against official sources — AIP, NOTAMs, and your briefing — before and during flight.

You're the pilot in command

As pilot in command, you're responsible for flight safety, navigation, and airspace compliance — regardless of what the app shows. OpenVFR is here to support your decisions, not make them for you.

No warranty

OpenVFR is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee that the app, or any data it displays, is accurate, complete, or up to date, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for loss, damage, or injury arising from its use.

Open source

OpenVFR's code is open source and available on GitHub. Contributions and issue reports are welcome.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
